Prayer for today

O God our Father,

We thank you for the harvest.

We thank you for the seed planted in the ground,

which shoots up green, and eventually bears fruit.

We thank you for the rich soil, the warm sun, the fresh rain,

which help that seed to grow.

We thank you for the beauty of your creation,

for setting us in the garden and giving us the job of caring for it.

Thought for the day -  a poem entitled 'No wrong answers'.                                                 What are you praying for at the moment?                                     Is your prayer for something you want  or for something you need?                                         Is your prayer for someone else who is ill or in trouble?               Or is your prayer for yourself?    Is your prayer a quiet one or is it shouted from the rooftops?         Is your prayer full of confidence in God’s goodness or is it said in the midst of doubt?                                  Does your prayer have words? Or Is it silent, or the banging of a drum, or a dance?                      Is your prayer accompanied by tears of sadness, or of frustration, or of joy?                           Is your prayer a smile of appreciation, or a belly laugh?  Or is it more of a wail or a scream?                                      Is your prayer a light conversation with God over lunch?                                        Or is it a negotiation, a struggle, a deal with God?                   Know this: God hears your prayer.                                  Every prayer.                    Heartfelt or fleeting.              Jesus says: keep on praying, keep on asking, keep on seeking, keep on knocking on that door of heaven because                     God hears, and God answers.
