Prayer for today
Lord Jesus Christ,
Crucified and raised from the dead
we come to worship you,
We call on your power
to release us from our tombs,
to bring us out from the darkness which engulfs this world
to free us from the tentacles of sin which entangle us.
We believe that in your dying you conquered death
and in your rising again you set us free from sin and hell.
We bless your holy name as
we gaze at the empty tomb
and we wonder what it can mean.
How it can be?
Accept our praise today.
We bring it along with our doubt and our questions
and what little faith we have
Bring us closer to you
and fill us with joy and hope
even today.
Amen
Thought for this week for Easter Sunday (based on Luke 24:1-11)
The first Easter was not a joyful day, but a confused one. Yes, it heralded a new beginning, and real hope after the trauma of the crucifixion on Good Friday. Jesus was alive! Yet, it took time for
the disciples and the women to understand what the empty tomb meant. What it really meant for their lives. What it really means for our lives.
